Pursuing a life long desire to be a backhoe operator, Mikel Darras and his wife, Carrie, followed Mike’s aspiration to be an independent business owner and purchased Ace Septic Tank Service (est. 1957) in 1989. From that first rainy day of business, in December of 1989, Mike may have come home soaking wet, but his spirits weren’t dampened by the experience. As the Salem based operation grew, the Darras’ decided to build a second pump truck to add to the fleet of service vehicles, and to expand the excavation portion of the business. They also decided to add portable restrooms to the existing services offered by their successful and growing business. From a small start with only 2 portable restrooms, the business has grown to over 500 units today.
